This time of year (even in Florida) you need to be sure
that your animals are properly housed and fed.
Be sure that your animals have warm bedding and shelter
from the elements. Something as basic a bale of straw and
the warmth of a hanging electric light bulb in the shelter
can make a world of difference for your livestock and
poultry.
Feed them something warm in the morning, (what does it take
to throw something in the microwave?) Our chickens like
warmed table scraps, corn meal mush, pasta of any kind,
squash and stale breakfast cereal (wet and warm).
Break the ice off of watering containers and add fresh
water. No matter how cold it is the fresh water is more
pleasant than ice water.
