For the most part I write articles about doing every day
things done around a home-based office efficiently, the
very definition being, performing or functioning in the
least wasteful manner.
So yesterday when I looked at the folders in my e-mailbox,
I knew that I was not living up to my own standard.
I had a main folder and 4 sub-folders for new subscribers
to my newsletter, each labeled with the name of a different
ad campaign that subscribers came from.
Two of these campaigns I'm not running any longer.
To make a long story short, after consolidating two of
these email folders I proceeded to delete the empty folder.
The folder that I had emptied was the main folder,
therefore all of the sub folders were also deleted.
What had I done!
Better yet what do I do? I know that one of those folders
had 20 some new subscribers and I didn't know how many were
in the other folders.
I immediately emailed a friend with a background in
computers to see if there was a way to recover the lost
folders.
She immediately replied, hhmmmm --- that's a real stumper!
I think you're @#%*........
By having a functional knowledge of computers I knew that
the things are usually not permanently deleted the first
time around so I began to search the computer for my
folders.
They didn't show in the delete folder or the recycle bin. I
clicked on View on the tool bar, went to Go To Folder and
VOILA!
I found them! They had been relocated as sub directories of
the Delete folder.
I was able to recover and relocate the information in those
folders.
I now have a very efficient new subscriber email folder and
another 75 people to share my learning experience with.
Life is too short to make all the mistakes yourself. That's
why I'm here for you.
