Multi-Tasking To multi-task is to reach as many objectives as possible, at one time. Right now, my laundry is doing itself, as are my dishes, dinner is cooking,
bread is baking, I am ironing my husband's slacks, downloading the How? Multi-tasking. I am not required to supervise the machines in the laundry room or kitchen. When they have reached their objectives, they will stop. I have speech software for the computer, which allows me to use my hands for other tasks. The speech program will also allow me to dictate into a tape recorder, then connect the tape recorder to the computer for translation from speech to type. I am able to do rough drafts for articles, anywhere, at anytime. Pretty cool, huh? Multi-tasking is applicable in most situations, we've made it into a game in our home to see who can do the most at once. WARNING! WARNING! DO NOT multi-task jobs that require your attention. I mentioned dictation, but that was because NONE of the other tasks that I was doing required my attention. To be most efficient in multi-tasking, you must keep the tools that you need, close to where you need them. For example: Keep supplies to clean the bathrooms, in each bathroom. You save the time that you would spend retrieving and returning cleaning supplies to another location. The next step is organizing your multi-tasking. Do the task, while you would normally be in the room. Ah-hah! When I start my morning, I get out of bed and make my side of the bed. I spray the tub and tile cleaner on the walls of the shower, brush my teeth then proceed with my shower, making sure to rinse the shower walls. When I get out of the shower, the mirror is fogged. I spritz the mirror with glass cleaner and wipe it with paper towel. I would have wiped it anyway to see in it, but now it is clean. Get the idea? By THINKING. I do what I normally do, without having to go back to correct anything. One of my favorite tools in multi-tasking is the free software that is found here. Make a game of it, while realizing how much easier multi-tasking makes your life and how much more time you have for important things... like your family.
